Heru and Kadin Plant Trees and Restock Fish Seeds in Jagakarsa Embung

To improve the function of the reservoir, Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono planted 50 trees and restocked 10,000 fish seeds in the Jagakarsa Embung (Artificial Lake), South Jakarta. This activity was conducted in synergy with the Jakarta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Friday (2/16).

Trees that we planted are Tabebuya

"Trees that we planted are Tabebuya. We synergize with the Jakarta Kadin where they had planted 1,000 trees. Hopefully, it will be useful for residents," he expressed as quoted by Jakarta Provincial Government's press release.

Aside that, the Acting Governor also spread fish seeds in the Jagakarsa Reservoir. As many as 10,000 Tawes and Tilapia fish seeds were stocked, after previously on February 14, we spread the same number of fish seeds. Water quality tests have previously been conducted to check the suitability of the water for restocking.

Restocking is an effort to increase fish stocks in public waters, thus it can increase the diversity of fish resources that can be utilized by the community. This activity is also done to maintain the balance of the ecosystem in public waters, to preserve aquatic resources.

He explained the Jagakarsa Reservoir area has an area of around 8,000 m² which can hold 17,000 cubic meters of water. Hopefully, this reservoir would be useful, especially to prevent flooding during high rainfall in South Jakarta. Efforts are still being made to build other reservoirs to minimize the impact of the rainy season.

"So, this year, we'll build three reservoirs in Jakarta. One of them has woken up in Jagakarsa. There are only two more in progress. Besides collecting clean water needs, it is also used to prevent flooding," he explained.

As for the information, there were also several officials, namely Development and Environment Assistant, Afan Adriansyah; Jakarta Parks and City Forest Agency Head, Bayu Meghantata; Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati; Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency Acting Head, Ika Agustin; Jakarta Regional Cooperation Bureau Head, Marulina Dewi; South Jakarta Mayor, Munjirin; and Jakarta Kadin Chairman, Diana Dewi.
